Customer tags & notes
Tag customers and keep private notes on their profile (a Zillo Pro feature) — a lightweight CRM built into your dashboard, on top of the customer insights every plan gets. Find both in the Tags & notes card on any customer's profile under Customers.
Customer tags & notes
Every Zillo plan already shows you who your customers are — lifetime spend, repeat rate, order history and lifecycle stage (new, active, VIP, lapsed). Zillo Pro adds the ability to act on that: tag customers and keep private notes, so your dashboard works like a lightweight CRM you and your team share.
Tags and notes are part of Zillo Pro. The customer insights and history views stay free for everyone.
Where to find it
- Open Customers.
- Click a customer to open their profile.
- Use the "Tags & notes" card to add tags and notes.
A customer profile is created automatically the first time someone buys from you, so anyone who has ordered already has a profile ready to tag.
Tags
Tags are short labels you assign to customers — for example VIP, wholesale,
allergic to nuts, event regular, or gift-only. Add a tag and press Enter;
remove one with the ✕. A customer can have as many tags as you like.
Use them to mark and group customers however your business actually thinks about them. Some ideas:
- Value:
VIP,big spender,first-timer. - Relationship:
wholesale, corporate, staff, friend. - Preferences or care notes:
vegan,allergic to nuts,prefers SMS. - Source:
from market stall,instagram,referred.
Agree on a small, consistent set of tags with your team before you start. A handful of clear labels everyone uses is far more useful than dozens of one-off tags that mean slightly different things to different people.
Notes
Notes are free-form and private to your team — the customer never sees them. Keep a record of a conversation, a delivery preference, a complaint and how it was resolved, or anything worth remembering next time they order. Because every team member sees the same notes, whoever serves the customer next has the full picture.
Tags and notes are visible to everyone on your team (see Inviting team members to add colleagues), but never to customers.
Reaching a group of customers
Tags help you recognise groups inside Zillo. To actually email or text a
segment — say, everyone tagged VIP — connect Klaviyo. Zillo syncs your
customers and their activity there, and you run the campaigns and flows in
Klaviyo. Set this up under
Settings → Integrations.
