Mobile app overview
The Zillo staff app for iPhone and Android does two jobs — redeem customer-presented QR codes (gift cards, tickets, vouchers, bookings, member check-ins) at the door, and take payments in person with Tap to Pay or cash. Both are controlled from Settings → Mobile.
Mobile app overview
The Zillo staff app is the companion to your dashboard for working away from a desk. It does two things:
- Redeem — scan customer-presented QR codes at the door or counter: gift cards, tickets, vouchers, bookings, and member check-ins all flow through the same scanner.
- Sell — take a payment in person, either by tapping a card to the phone or recording cash, without a separate card reader.
Both jobs run from one app on your own phone or tablet, so a market stall, pop-up, studio door, or event entrance only needs a charged device and your login.
Install and sign in
The app is on the App Store and Google Play under "Zillo Staff". Once it's installed:
- Open the app and tap Sign in.
- Enter the same email and password you use for dashboard.zillo.app.
- Pick your store — if you belong to more than one store, the app asks which one to use.
- (Optional) Enable Face ID / fingerprint so future sign-ins are a tap.
Your session stays signed in until you sign out or change your password, so staff don't have to log in every shift.
Give door and counter staff their own logins by inviting them as team members from Settings → Team. That way every redemption and sale is attributed to the right person. A Redeem-only role limits a team member to scanning, which is ideal for seasonal or volunteer staff. See Inviting team members.
The Redeem tab
Pick the type of code you're scanning, scan or type it, then confirm. The Redeem tab handles:
- Gift cards — full or partial redemption, with an optional note and the card's transaction history.
- Tickets — scanning flips the ticket to "Redeemed".
- Vouchers — the same one-scan pattern as tickets.
- Bookings — mark the booking as arrived.
- Member check-ins — log a visit against a membership. Repeat scans of the same QR within about a minute are blocked to avoid accidental double check-ins.
Force redemption is available on every redeem screen. It's the escape hatch for when a customer's phone has died after they scanned at the door and you need to let them through anyway. The action is recorded so you keep a clean record of overrides.
The same flows are available on a desktop from Redemptions if you'd rather scan from a tablet at a fixed counter.
The Sell tab — payments in person
Turn on in-person selling from Settings → Mobile and the app gains a Sell tab for taking money at the counter. You choose which payment methods to allow:
- Tap to Pay — the customer taps their card or phone directly to your device, no extra reader needed (available on supported hardware).
- Cash — record a cash sale so it lands in your records and reporting alongside card sales.
To take a sale: pick the products, optionally attach a customer, and take payment. The sale shows up in Orders right away, just like a storefront purchase, so your books stay in one place.
See Taking payments in person for the full setup and a walkthrough of each payment method.
Customers tab (optional)
If you've enabled customer search in Settings → Mobile, the app shows a Customers tab. Search by email to see what a customer has bought from you — handy for "did Jane already redeem her gift card?" mid-shift. Redeem-only team members don't see this tab.
